Holocaust Memorial Day

Y6 had a moving talk from Hannah Goldstone from NHEG (Northern Holocause Education Group) today. Hannah talked to the children about her grandfather who came to the UK from Germany during World War 2. He was part of Kindertransport and was sent away from his home and family because he was Jewish. The children thought about what that would feel like and what they would pack if they had to leave to go to another country for their safety. We all talked about our hopes for the future where we do not discriminate against anyone because of their faith. We worry that this still happens today and we know that this must change.

Laura Tebay also joined us and the children completed some art work about their worries and their hopes and these will be displayed at Manchester Cathedral in time for Holocaust Memorial Day on 27th January.

It was a moving experience and made us cherish our own families more.
