We have returned after a restful half term. James led our worship on Monday and we thought about Remembrance and the significance of the poppy. We all know that we must remember those who have fought in wars for our freedom. Thank you for generosity buying poppies in school. We will be sending your donations to the British Legion. Turquoise class produced a range of art work that is currently being displayed at Royton library.
Our Care Club also produced a fabulous display. We will remember them.
Our Girls’ Football Team were amazing on Tuesday- they won 4 out of 5 games in the Oldham School Games Futsal Competition. They have qualified to represent Oldham in the Greater Manchester School Games. They were absolutely thrilled and so deserved it!
On Wednesday we welcomed prospective parents to our school to have a look around and meet the staff. We were pleased to welcome many parents who were very impressed with our school.
Our Health Champions gave an informative presentation to the whole school on Thursday. Did you know that you should only have two packets of food items (e.g. yoghurts, biscuits, crisps) in your lunch box? More than that will provide too much sugar. The ‘We are Healthy’ team will be supporting children to have a healthy lunchbox and are planning to give out stickers to those who have a healthy, balanced lunch. Children were also told about the importance of brushing their teeth twice a day and eating 5 fruit and vegetables a day.
The date has now closed for Parent Governor nominations and the result will be revealed next week.
Next week we are looking forward to BBC Radio Manchester dropping by our school on Tuesday as they undertake their half marathon around Greater Manchester. Let’s hope the weather is good! Have a look at the calendar under the News and Events tab to see more about how we are raising money for Children in Need on Tuesday and Friday; and don’t forget to check your Parentmail messages too.
Have a safe weekend.
Mrs Holt
